1. Who you are contracting with

Kuala Selangor Firefly Tours is a trading brand of Exotic Asia Holidays Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, company registration 898289M, Ministry of Tourism licence KPL/LN/6245, MATTA member MA3643. By booking or using this website you agree to these terms.

2. What we provide

We operate evening tours from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Selangor. Two products are sold:

  • Private tour. Departs 4:00 PM daily except Mondays, about six hours. Includes hotel pickup within 5 km of the Petronas Twin Towers, Bukit Melawati, eagle feeding, seafood dinner and a firefly river cruise on a non-motorised sampan.
  • Shared tour. Departs 3:30 PM daily, about five and a half hours. Includes hotel pickup within 3 km of the Petronas Twin Towers, Sri Shakti Temple, Bukit Melawati, seafood dinner and a firefly river cruise on a covered electric boat.

Both include an English-speaking licensed driver-guide and an air-conditioned vehicle. Travel insurance and personal expenses are not included.

3. Sightings are not guaranteed

Fireflies and blue tears are wild natural phenomena. Firefly density varies with moon phase, rainfall and river conditions, and blue tears are seasonal and depend on a plankton bloom. We do not guarantee that you will see either on any given night, and no refund is due on the basis of what the river showed. What we guarantee is the service: the pickup, the itinerary, the dinner, the boat and a licensed guide.

4. Prices and payment

All prices are quoted in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) and are per person unless stated otherwise. Prices published on this site are current at the time of publication and may change; the price confirmed at checkout is the price that applies to your booking. Payment is taken through our booking provider at the time of booking unless we agree otherwise in writing.

5. Pickup, punctuality and no-shows

Please be in your hotel lobby ten minutes before your scheduled pickup time. Our driver will wait up to 30 minutes, after which the booking is treated as a no-show and no refund is due. If your accommodation is outside the stated pickup radius, either a surcharge applies or you may meet the group at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur; this is agreed before your booking is confirmed.

6. Changes and cancellations

Cancellation and amendment terms, including any deadline for a free cancellation, are shown on the booking page at checkout and in your confirmation voucher. Those terms form part of your contract with us. Where you need to change a date, contact us as early as possible and we will do what we reasonably can to move you.

7. Changes by us

We may vary the itinerary where safety, weather, traffic, river conditions or the closure of a site requires it. Where a boat operator suspends cruises for safety, or where a departure cannot run, we will offer you a reasonable alternative date or a refund of the affected portion. We do not compensate for consequential costs such as flights or accommodation.

8. Your responsibilities

  • Give accurate names, contact details, pickup location and traveller ages when booking
  • Wear the life jacket provided and follow the boatman's and guide's safety instructions
  • Use no flash photography or torches on the river; the rule protects the fireflies and other visitors
  • Supervise children at all times, on the hill and on the water
  • Tell us in advance about mobility needs, allergies or dietary requirements so we can advise honestly on whether the tour suits you

9. Health, safety and liability

Boarding a boat at a river jetty at night carries inherent risk. You take part at your own risk and we strongly recommend travel insurance. To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss or damage to personal belongings, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the affected booking. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

10. Third-party services

Boat operators, restaurants and site owners at Kuala Selangor are independent third parties. We select them with care and are responsible for arranging them as part of your tour, but their own operating rules, opening hours and pricing are set by them.

11. Intellectual property

The content of this website, including text, images and layout, belongs to Exotic Asia Holidays Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd unless otherwise credited, and may not be reproduced without permission.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the Malaysian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
